Force 4 Compassion Human Trafficking News: United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime

Objectives

CRIMJUST aims to combat the flow of illicit drugs by enhancing law enforcement and judicial counter-narcotic strategies beyond interdiction activities and by fostering transnational responses targeting each stage of the drug supply chain. It focuses on drug trafficking networks connecting Latin America, the Caribbean and West Africa, seeking to foster multi-faceted strategies to disrupt these drug trades, through four main pillars:

Capacity Building: Strengthening the capacities of criminal justice institutions  to detect, investigate, prosecute and adjudicate drug trafficking and related organized crime cases

Interregional Cooperation: Fostering regional and interregional cooperation between criminal justice institutions by promoting good practices, information exchange, networking and South-South cooperation

Institutional Integrity: Enhancing institutional integrity and accountability of criminal justice institutions as a way to reinforce mutual trust and confidence within and between both regions, with the active involvement of civil society organizations

Regional and global strategic knowledge: Providing regional and global strategic knowledge of drug production, trafficking, and related organized crime to enable member states to implement evidence-based policies

CRIMJUST promotes the incorporation of gender considerations within counter-narcotic strategies, by ensuring that participating states and relevant authorities can access the strategic knowledge, resources and capacities necessary to address unique challenges faced by women, at once victims and participants of the illicit drug trade.
